(birthday, favorite year, random numbers etc.) •Please post a greeting so we know the system is working Combining Todays Meet with(DB’s) - Asynchronously •Students ANONYMOUSLY post reactions, questions, criticisms, confusions regarding each module’s content, assignments etc. You check this feed once a day &, if need be, post responses to everyone via TodaysMeet, REMIND or the DB •Anonymity means issues of race, racism, microaggressions are raised. •Anonymity means students can ask ‘dumb’ questions about the course, clarify assignment instructions or query grading policies with no fear of embarrassment & without risk. •You ask a question once a week for course evaluation – eg. what’s the most engaging / boring / helpful / puzzling activity or content? •You then summarize responses & disclose any changes you’re making Combining Todays Meet with(DB’s) - Synchronously • As you use Adobe Connect (Zoom) a Todays Meet feed is open. Unlike the ‘chat’ function on Adobe this is ANONYMOUS. Students can say anything they wish, or ask ‘dumb’ questions with no risk or fear of embarrassment. This is CRUCIAL if students don’t understand content or something bothers them, feels racist. • You can open a session by posing a content question to which all students respond. This provides an accurate sense of the perspectives & levels of understanding students bring to the topic of the day. • You can pose a process question if you think problems are emerging – What am I doing that most bothers you? What’s most confusing about the assignment or my instructions? How am I addressing race or diversity? What change in the class would be helpful to you?
