     WHAT IS A NETWORK
     TOPOLOGY?
•When you have two or more computers connected to each other, you have a network.
•The purpose of a network is to enable the sharing of files and information between multiple
     systems.
•The Internet could be described as a global network of networks.
•Computer networks can be connected through cables, such as Ethernet cables or phone lines, or
wirelessly, using wireless networking cards that send and receive data through the air.
     TOPOLOGY
     Topology
Physical and logical network layout of the network.
     Physical
Actual layout of the computer cables and other network devices
     Logical
The way in which the network appears to the devices that use it
                                               BASIC NETWORK
                                               TERMINOLOGIES
                                               NODES
It refers to any device that is connected to a computer network such as printers, personal digital
assistance etc. These nodes when connected, make a network.
                                               SERVER
It is a computer in a network that is designed and configured to manage network resources. It
facilitates sharing of hardware, software and data files. It can be of two types i.e. Dedicated and
                                               Non Dedicated
     TYPES OF SERVERS
     Dedicated server:
It is a single computer in the network that is reserved for serving as server. It is used for large
     networks.

     Non-Dedicated servers:
They act as both servers as well as platform.
They are usually used in small networks.
     TYPES OF COMPUTER SERVERS
Different Types of computer servers used are:
     1. Application Server:
They are middle ware software that connect two separate applications that are otherwise apart.
It connects the end users with the database servers.
     2. Chat Server:
A chat server is a computer dedicated to providing the processing power to handle and maintain
     chatting and it users.
      3. Fax Server:
It allows the organization to exchange the information contained in physical document.
