                     TEAS TESTING GUIDE
                     9-14-2021

The Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) by Assessment Technologies Institute (ATI) is required to
apply to PCC’s Associate Degree Nursing, Radiography, Respiratory Therapy, Medical Sonography,
Cardiovascular Sonography, and Occupational Therapy Assistant Programs. Interested applicants must
carefully read this testing guide in its entirety.

Only PCC students are permitted to test with PCC’s Testing Center.

       What is the TEAS?
The TEAS is a test designed to assess your preparedness for entering a health sciences program. It is
administered in a computerized format and consists of 170 multiple-choice questions. The time limit for
completing the TEAS is 209 minutes. The TEAS is not a placement test.

What types of questions are on the TEAS?
Questions are designed to test the basic academic skills students need to perform in health sciences
classes in the areas of Reading, Math, Science, and English and Language Usage.

When do I take the TEAS?
You must complete the TEAS with a minimum total score to be eligible to apply to the Associate Degree
Nursing, Radiography, Respiratory Therapy, Medical Sonography, Cardiovascular Sonography, and
Occupational Therapy Assistant Programs. The minimum total score required to apply to each program
varies and is found on each program’s curriculum sheet. You should consult your academic advisor to
determine when to take the TEAS. Ideally, it is best to take the TEAS after you have completed the
       minimum prerequisite courses.

How many times may I take the TEAS?
You may test twice per academic year (July 1-June 30). You must wait at least 30 days between test
attempts. You will not be provided an extension to a health sciences program’s application deadline to
       test.

Do I need an appointment to take the TEAS?
Yes. You must create an account with ATI to schedule a test date and time and register for the test. You
should allow at least 4-hours to complete the test.

How much does it cost to take the TEAS?
The cost to test with the PCC Testing Center is $82.00. The testing fee is paid when registering for the
       TEAS.

       How is the TEAS offered?
Students may take the TEAS in-person or online. The test is proctored regardless of the method chosen.

How do I schedule a test date and time, register, and pay for the TEAS?

A valid picture ID will be required to test. Please make sure you use the exact name and spelling that is
provided on your picture ID when completing the registration process. Your registration ticket name and
spelling must match your picture ID.

Login to the ATI website and select “Register Now” on the left of the page.
                       • Once you select Register Now, you will be prompted to select an in-person or online testing
                           method.
                       • For program type, students applying to the Associate Degree Nursing Program should select “TEAS
for Nursing.” Students applying to Radiography, Respiratory Therapy, Medical Sonography,
Cardiovascular Sonography, and Occupational Therapy Assistant should select “TEAS for Allied
                           Health.”
                       • Search by School Name and find Pitt Community College.
                       • Select a testing date and time.
                       • Read the disclosures carefully and complete the registration process.
                       • You will be prompted to pay and set up an ATI account when you check out. Remember to use
the exact name and spelling that is provided on your picture ID to create your account.

Will I need my ATI login and registration confirmation to test?
Yes. You will need your ATI login credentials and your registration confirmation. Your registration
confirmation will be sent to the email address you submitted when you registered for the test and it will
include your assessment ID. Your assessment ID is unique to you and you must have it to test. Please check
to ensure you can login with your username and password before your testing date and time. Contact ATI
Test Security at 1-844-956-2790 for assistance with your login credentials or assessment ID.

You will not be allowed to test if you are unable to login to ATI account or do not have your assessment
ID. Your testing fee will not be refunded. You will have to register again to test and pay another
                  registration fee.

What time should I arrive for my test?
Testing will begin on time. You are encouraged to arrive at the PCC Testing Center or login (if you are
taking the test online) approximately 20 minutes prior to your test start time. If you are testing online,
make sure you are in a well-lit space and are prepared for a room scan prior to the start of the test.

What do I do if I need to reschedule my TEAS test?
Rescheduling your TEAS test is only permitted when emergency circumstances arise. If you are unable to
attend your scheduled testing appointment, you must notify the PCC Testing Center by calling 252-493-
7561 or 252-493-7562 in advance of your scheduled testing appointment. Students will be allowed to
reschedule one time only. When calling to reschedule your testing appointment, please provide your full
name, PCC student ID number, valid phone number, original test date, and the date you would like to
                  reschedule your appointment.

What if I am late or miss my testing appointment?
You will not be allowed to test if you are late or miss your testing appointment. You will be required to
register again and pay another registration fee.

                  Is the testing fee refundable?
All testing fees are non-refundable. Students who miss their scheduled test date and time will not receive
a refund. Testing fees are charged and collected by ATI. PCC has no control of testing fees or the ability to
                  authorize a refund.

What do I need to have with me on test day? What do I not need?
You will need your valid picture ID. Your registration ticket name must match your picture ID. You will also
need your ATI login credentials and assessment ID. An on-screen calculator will be available for some
questions. Hand-held calculators are not permitted without an approved accommodation. Electronic
devices and other personal items are not permitted in PCC’s Testing Center. Food and drink are not
permitted, unless medically necessary. Documentation indicating medical necessity must be provided to
the PCC Testing Center staff prior to your test date and time. Earplugs and scratch paper will be provided
for those testing in the PCC Testing Center. If you are testing online, you may have one blank sheet of
paper to use for scratch paper and you should destroy it after the test.

Are there any COVID-19 safety protocols I must follow in the PCC Testing Center?
PCC Testing Center staff will conduct required COVID-19 screenings on anyone entering the PCC Testing
Center and ensure appropriate social distancing is maintained. You will be asked to use hand sanitizer
(provided) when you enter and exit the PCC Testing Center. A properly fitted mask that covers your nose
                  and mouth is also required.

Please contact the PCC Testing Center by calling 252-493-7561 or 252-493-7562 prior to your testing date
and time if you have been exposed to anyone with COVID-19 symptoms or you are experiencing any of
the symptoms below so that your test may be rescheduled. Do not report to campus.
                       • Fever of 100°F or above
                       • Runny nose, cough, sore throat (unrelated to allergies)

How can I prepare for the TEAS?
Preparation for the TEAS is strongly recommended. ATI offers a variety of resources, including a TEAS

What are the technical requirements to test online?
You must provide your own technology resources (i.e., fully charged computer, webcam, microphone,
Internet speed, etc.) to test online and these resources must be adequate to support administration of
the test. The newest version of Google Chrome is the required browser needed and you must install the
Proctorio Chrome Extension on your device. Proctorio is the proctoring platform that allows PCC Testing
Center staff to proctor your test.

PCC Testing Center staff are not able to troubleshoot your technology resources. Outdated technology
and software, missing components, slow internet speeds, the wrong internet browser, etc. will negatively
impact your ability to test. Please ensure you have adequate technology resources to support online
testing before you register for this option. Visit https://atitesting.com/technical-requirements for a
complete listing of the technical requirements for online testing.

How will I receive my TEAS scores?
You may access your TEAS scores after completing the test via the ATI portal. Login to your ATI account
and click on the “My Results” tab. PCC Test Center staff are unable to provide you a copy of your results.

Must I send my TEAS scores to PCC?
If you take the TEAS in-person or online with the PCC Testing Center, you do not have to submit your
scores. PCC will be granted access to your scores by ATI.

How long are my TEAS scores valid?
At PCC, TEAS scores are valid for three years counting back from the date of enrollment in a health sciences
                   program.

I have taken TEAS with another testing center. Can PCC use those scores to determine my eligibility to
                   a health sciences program?
If your TEAS scores are less than 3 years old counting back from the date you plan to enroll in a program,
you may use those scores and are not required to retest. For PCC to access your scores, you will need to
request your ATI transcript be sent to PCC. To request an ATI transcript, visit
https://www.atitesting.com/teas/ati-teas-transcript Transcripts are sent to PCC electronically. PCC does
not accept printed copies of your scores. Any fee charged by ATI to send your transcript to PCC is your
                   responsibility.

What do I do if I need special accommodations during my test?
If you have a need for disability-related accommodations, you must notify the PCC Testing Center 30 days
in advance of your test date and time by calling 252-493-7561 or 252-493-7562. PCC Testing Center staff
must receive confirmation of your testing accommodations from PCC’s Office of Accessibility Services
prior to your test date and time. For questions about disability-related accommodations, please contact
PCC’s Office of Accessibility Services at (252) 493-7595.
