University of Dundee Scholarship Global Citizenship Scholarship 2022-23 Key Facts Document This Key Facts Document sets out the main details of the Scholarship, as at date of publication. If applicable, this document should be reviewed alongside the University of Dundee Scholarship Policy. Date of publication January 2022 Application Process • Applicants who are in receipt of an Offer from the University of Dundee must submit a 350 word statement via the University of Dundee application form (found at www.dundee.ac.uk/scholarships/). • All applications are reviewed by an Academic panel of staff and selection is based on quality of personal statement. • All decisions are communicated with applicants, whether successful or unsuccessful. Who is eligible? • Hold an offer to study an eligible Undergraduate or Postgraduate Taught course at the University of Dundee o Undergraduate – Must hold an offer for a full time, on campus course excluding any course in the School of Medicine or Dentistry. o Postgraduate taught – Must hold an offer for a full time, on campus course in any academic school. • Classified by the University of Dundee as an International Fee-paying student. • The course must be a full time, on campus course. o Undergraduate courses of 120 credits per year of study o Postgraduate courses of 180 credits per year of study. • PhD and Masters by Research courses are not covered by this scholarship. • The course must have a tuition fee of: o £19,500 (Undergraduate) or; o £19,900 (Postgraduate Taught), or above • Courses at a lower fee are not eligible* Award Information • The value of this scholarship is £5,000 and awarded as a tuition fee waiver. • The scholarship awarded for the duration of study. o For Undergraduate courses, this is up to 5 years o For postgraduate courses, where the course is longer than 12 months (full time) the scholarship will be awarded in both years. The fee payable in each year must be £19,900 or above. • All scholarship awards are offered on an unconditional basis. • All scholarship awards are deducted from tuition fees and are not paid directly to any applicant. Key Information • *If an applicant has an Offer for a 3.5 year Undergraduate course in the School of Business, then the scholarship will only be applied from Year 2 onwards. • Where eligible, this scholarship can be combined with the following scholarships: o Alumni or Alumni Family o Discover Business at Dundee 1 • Applicants in receipt of a Vice Chancellor’s Regional scholarship cannot be awarded a Global Citizenship scholarship in addition, only one award can be applied. • Applicants in receipt of a Global Excellence scholarship are unable to apply for the Global Citizenship Scholarship, only one award can be applied. • Applicants can be in receipt of the Global Citizenship Scholarships and may also be eligible for other funding. Applicants are encouraged to review the Scholarship Terms and Conditions which outlines scholarship combinations. • All communication with the student will be via email, and to their @dundee.ac.uk email address. We may also communicate with other email addresses provided to us by the applicant. • If an applicant has funding as part of a partnership agreement, then they cannot hold a Global Citizenship scholarship in addition to this. The higher value award will apply. • If an applicant chooses to defer their entry within the same academic year, we may be able to defer the scholarship award. However, this may not apply if the applicant chooses to defer to the following academic year. We will confirm with all applicants who defer, the status of their scholarship. • If an applicant has paid their tuition fees in full prior to being awarded a Global Citizenship Scholarship, the value of the scholarship will be refunded to the applicant after they have enrolled at the University of Dundee. Alternatively, this can be transferred to the University accommodation account balance (if applicable). • If an applicant receives the award after the University of Dundee has issued a CAS for visa application purposes, then the applicant will need to get in touch with the University to confirm next steps. • The scholarship is only awarded in the years in which full fees (£19,500 and above) are paid to the University. For postgraduate taught courses, this can be 1 year or 2 for some specialist courses. • If a student re-sits a year of study at the University, the scholarship award will not apply, however will commence once they have progressed to the next level. • Applicants from non-graduating years at the University are not eligible for the Scholarship. • The University of Dundee will not back date any awards and all awards made will be current and apply to the applicant in the current academic year. The University of Dundee will not make awards to students who have already enrolled at the University onto the course. • If an applicant withdraws from their course, the University Fees department will be in contact regarding payment of fees and scholarship balance. • The University reserves the right to withdraw the bursary immediately and without notice where the student is determined by the University to have misled the University about any aspect of eligibility to receive the bursary. • All scholarship decisions are final and cannot be appealed. 2
